FAQs

  • Where did you learn to knit, sew, and quilt?
For the most part I am self-taught. I do not have any formal education in fiber arts. I learned about sewing and knitting early in my life from my Mom and paternal Grandmother. As an adult, I have taken a few classes at Blue Bar Quilts in Middleton, WI. I often learn through free online tutorials, trial-and-error, and adapting patterns to fit my skill level.
  • Is all your work original?
No, definitely not! While I have made all the items that are for sale, I always rely on great designers and patterns to guide my work. Drafting patterns, assembling fabric packs, and dying wool are entirely different skill sets then the ones I possess. I try to provide credit to pattern designers as necessary and a lot of that information can be found on my Instagram feed as well.
  • Do you quilt everything yourself?
While I cut and piece each top and back for every quilt I make, I often collaborate with a couple different long arm quilters to do the actual quilting. Send me an email if you are curious about that part of the process, or who I work with. I'm happy to share more about these amazing artisans! I am learning how to quilt myself, so most of the smaller projects (pillows, lap or baby quilts) I have completed on my domestic sewing machine.
  • Where do you create?
I work out of my home!
  • What kind of knitting needles do you use?
While I learned how to knit on long, aluminum single point needles, these days I use almost exclusively bamboo needles. I prefer circular needles, but will also happily knit socks on double-pointed needles (dpns). Due to the nature of the projects that I enjoy knitting, I typically only knit with wool and wool blends, and sometimes alpaca.
  • What kind of sewing machine do you have?
After years of working on a Janome Magnolia, I was gifted a new sewing machine in 2022. Everything for sale has been created with a Juki Haurka TL-18QVP. I also own a Brother Serger.
  • Do you have local delivery?
Yes! I am happy to offer free delivery in the Madison, WI area. Please email me to discuss arrangements.
